1990 MK3 XR2I, once again I own one, almost 30 years later

Featured Replies

Ever since selling my MK3 XR2i back in 1999 (bought in 1995) I wish I hadn´t. The ONE car that never left my mind. Time to stop dwelling, and buy one! It rides like a kart, and steers like a Massey-Furgeson, just like I remember it! 😂

There are some issues I need to (have) checked:

1. On the motorway, it seems to stall a bit when accelerating.
2. It runs a bit rough stationary when the engine is warm (rpm fluctuates between 1100-1300 rpm).
3. The boot doesn't pop open when I press the button, this is a mechanical issue, the switch works fine (I hear it unlocking the boot).
4. The steering wheel trembles when braking, and when driving above 135 km/h.
5. Right side indicator does not work one out of 50 times.
6. One wheel bearing tightens (sounds like "sjuch-sjuch-sjuch" and frequency changes with speed)
7. ABS light does not burn when handbrake is on (which it should, as a test).
8. Valve rubbers need replacing, it uses some oil.
9. Two new front tires should be fitted.

Thanks for reading! Happy camper here...
