Ford KA MK2 Titanium - Climate Control

Featured Replies

Still struggling to find the heater fan resistor on our daughters MK2 Diesel.

The car is a Titanium spec hence has climate control - does it actually have a resistor or something else, blower still stuck on full!!

need help

There is a resistor listed in the parts catalogue for Mk2 Ka.  It doesn't specify manual or auto climate.

Looks like it's fitted right against the chassis though, in the inlet tract behind the blower fan.

Wow, that's one helluva price at £72! It 'looks' exactly the same as the one I just bought for my Focus @ £9.95 inc P&P. You gotta wonder what the actual difference would be...

Steve- I have most of the car stripped and dash almost empty, can't find the resistor and its not in the place where some images and youtube videos suggest, this is starting to drive me mad.

Crikey, no wonder he couldn't find it if he dismantled the dash!

There are many different versions of 'climate control' in different makes & models.

Essentially all it needs is a temp sensor and remotely adjustable temp blend flap to maintain a desired temp.

It doesn't need any more than 4 fan speeds.  But if there are more than 4 fan speeds available on this model, then that would suggest a regulating 'module' rather than the conventional resistor.

It only works on one speed ie full and thats it

I mean the option of more than 4 speeds.  Manual dials have 1234 settings.  But there is no particular reason for climate control to need any more than 4 speed settings.  So it could easily make do with a standard resistor on a car at the lower end of the price scale.

Just need someone to confirm what it should have and where, car is currently stripped & in essence dead

That's what we're trying to do.  There aren't many Ka owners on here.  And even fewer with climate control.  So it's a learning curve for all of us, using parts catalogues and experience of other models.  Most of us are more familiar with Fiesta/Focus/Mondeo.  The Mk2 Ka is largely a Fiat 500, though as it uses a Ford resistor, the HVAC box may be a Ford design.

Can you get a camera up to the point shown in the video above to prove that yours doesn't have a resistor located there?  If you can prove that, I will do some more research on these.
