Oil Change warning

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the message "Change oil soon" as It is not time for an oil change.

Hold brake & throttle pedals.  Switch ignition on.  Wait until the dash beeps or shows a reset message.  Then release the pedals and switch off ignition.

Probably is time if it's a diesel. Oil has diluted from regular regens to the point that oil change is required. Quite often the oil change required is lower than you expect.

Tried this on my push button start car and the engine starts and revs away maniacally! Is there a different procedure on a keyless ign car?

on my 2018 titanium I reset oil life in the menu on the clocks to get it back to 100% after an oil change.

Is your car an automatic?

If so, then you only hold down the accelerator pedal. Do not touch the brake pedal. The engine won't start. It takes about 15 seconds before the reset process begins.

As above, if it's auto there'll be a different procedure.  On manuals, the engine won't start unless the clutch is pressed.

Many thanks Unofix and Tom.

Message now cleared. Though I found that I did have to press the brake pedal as follows:-

  • depress accelerator pedal on its own and hold down
  • press start button briefly
  • then press brake pedal 2 seconds later so that both pedals remain depressed for 15 seconds
  • release both pedals
  • press start button to turn car off.

I didn't get any message on the dashboard mentioning 'reset procedure in progress' or anything, but it seems to have got rid of the message 😉
