I assume the original documentation with the number is long lost?

Very long time since we owned a Ka but Iirc you need to get the serial number off the radio unit and try and find the code from that. I don't think it's linked to the registration number.

It's possible a previous owner might have written the code somewhere on the back of the unit, there are sites on the internet that provide codes if you have a quick search around, such as this:

At one time a Ford dealer would have been able to get the code for you on proof of ownership but I doubt it they still do.

Just supporting that view that the registration number has nothing to do with the radio code. I'm on my 3rd head unit (various reasons), and know from experience the code  can only be sourced via the serial number of the actual radio you have currently installed.

Forum rules prevent an actual search for a code, but there are plenty of sites that offer a 'code' service some range from being free to  couple of pounds... Sad that the only people adversely effected by a 'code' system is a genuine owner.
