Help! 2016 Kuga - diagnostic faults light up like Christmas

Featured Replies

Hello all.

My 2016 Kuga (c.81,000 miles, beautiful clean and healthy) has died. Although it starts and the engine runs smoothly on tick over, absolutely nothing happens when accelerator is applied.

The RAC roadside lads tried changing the pedal (now all electronic) but it wasn’t that.

Then their full diagnostic bods then ran a test and their systems light-up like a Christmas tree.

It showed multiple faults across literally dozens of items; it even showed a fault on the auto gearbox, but mine is a manual !! They reset as much as they could but it just went back to armageddon.

Someone has suggested full computer software malfunction and suggested re-installing the whole software.  This sounds like a very expensive dealer (rip off for a simple cure) solution.

Add insult to injury, as she’s been off road for 2 weeks, the battery has now died ….

Any thoughts and pointers are most welcomed.

Mick

My fist guess would be to recharge the battery and do a voltage check with and without the engine running. Kugas have been known to throw errors due to low battery voltages.

Also a quick check on the fuse boxes and relays.

Other than that it may be a can bus issue which can give multiple errors ( including ‘U’ codes)

Thanks lads.
