Hello my name's Nigel fiesta 8.5 owner how are you all.

Hello guys and girls I'm Nigel had a fiesta st line x since new 72 plate been having a issue with it the last few weeks that's getting more prominent.

When driving between 20 -30ish mph and going over larger bumps potholes etc I'm getting a old thumping sound periodically from the front . Think it's from the drivers side but unclear. Doesn't sound metallic but it difficult to tell. Booked in with my local ford dealer next week to investigate but I'm wondering if if they find a fault is this covered under warranty? I'm a community nurse so use it for work obviously less than 2 years old with only 14k on the clock. I'm also very particular with it almost OCD in looking after it and driving it. Has anyone got any ideas what could be wrong or had similar issues?

Kind Regards Nigel.

Hi Nigel, welcome.

Yes, you should really have posted in the specific Fiesta section.😀

On the warranty question, hard to say without knowing what the issue is. If there is an issue (e.g. faulty manufacture, premature failure) that could not fall under the "wear and tear"exclusion, it should be covered.

However, given the state of the roads (you mention "larger bumps and potholes") and with the lower suspension and low profile tyres on an ST-Line you may well have sustained damage to wheel, tyre or suspension components, which would not be covered by warranty.

Tbh, I don't think I know anyone who hasn't had similar issues - wheel/tyres, shot dampers, broken springs, etc, etc. If you can pinpoint a specific culprit (unrepaired pothole, etc) with photo evidence you can try claiming off the council/highway authority.

Hi many thanks for you advice and sorry for commenting in the wrong section I wasn't sure. Yes the potholes are a ***** nightmare lol. I had a good look a few weeks back took the front wheels off and must admit couldn't see anything wrong as such springs looked ok shocks looked fine but suppose it's hard to tell. I actually thought it was something rattling or jumping around under the engine tray but had that off and nothing under their. I have a gravel driveway and have had a few stones made there way up into the suspension but I've ruled that out also I jet wash the underneath a couple of days ago and got into everything.

Update been to ford today left it with them they found a stone stuck in the wishbone but nothing else wrong gave it a 100% health check.Drove out the dealer and low and behold tapping away over certain bumps lol. So rang up again and looked in for Tuesday to go out with a technician so I can show them, I doubt they even test drove it to be honest.

Lol yer your probably right. Read yesterday that a lot of people have had the issue with the mk8 ford seem to know about the issues but can't / won't fix it. Morning nes getting worse or something it seems. Others reported having every suspension component replaced and still having the issue. Ford have even stated it's a characteristic of the st line lol ..

I must have been lucky.  I had a 2018 ST- L for 5 years and had no noise problems whatsoever.

Lol yer seems that way. I reviewed the dash cam footage earlier to actually see if they tested it after inspection, they did and you can clearly hear the knocking loudly on several occasions FFS😂
