C-MAX purchase? belt changes

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. Firstly, apologies if this topic has a thread already, but flicking through the threads I didn't see anything.

I am considering purchasing a nice 2016 C-MAX  1.6 Ti-VCT Zetec. It's low mileage, full service history. A question I would like to ask fellow owners are about the belts. Is the timing belt a dry belt? And the oil pump a wet belt?. If this is the case, how many man hours (approximate costs) to change both, or just the oil pump belt? This is, of course, assuming it has a wet belt for the oil pump. Any reliability issues? I want to get it done if I buy the car for that peace of mind feeling. Appreciate any input or advice.

Thank you....😊

1.6 Ti-VCT uses a conventional dry belt.  The oil pump is fitted around the crankshaft on these, no belt needed at all.

The dry timing belt is recommended every 8 years if low mileage.  It is quite an easy job, but with prices still on the rise, I would estimate around £500 for it now.

Appreciate the valuable information. Just sold my 2014 Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost and plan to put the money toward an MPV sized car
