Identifying my Focus engine and donor vehicles for a swap

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need a replacement engine for my Focus, and I understand that this type of engine may have been fitted to various other makes of car.

My Focus was registered in 2007, and has a 1560 c.c. turbo diesel engine of 80kW power. Its emission rating is 119g of CO2/km.

Could anyone help me to identify the "identifying manufacturer and product name" for my engine?

Essentially, I want to know what is the full range of donor vehicles that had the same type and specification of engine and would allow me to do a "direct swap" without modifications. I need to know how to identify them from engine numbers, etc.

Could anyone elaborate on this for me, please?

Regards,

Rob

The base Peugeot engines are all the same but the injectors, ancillaries, flywheels and turbos and engine harnesses will be different for each application and performance level

Also, it went to single cam not long after that

I would stick to common car donors to source your engine so if you have a Focus 115PS (I don't understand KW) manual I would source the engine from a Focus or C-Max 115PS manual

115ps was the 8v model from Mk3 Focus.  This will be the '110', which is actually 108bhp.  Probably G8DA Ford engine code.

If you want to be sure of the exact same engine then get one from another Mk2 Focus.  Though it was also fitted to Peugeot, Citroen, Volvo, Mini, Suzuki and possibly others I've forgotten.

The important thing is that it's the 16v engine, and also of the same power level.  The 90ps model had a different turbo & injectors so not a direct swap.  Also don't get one later than 2009 if you need the DPF as well, because that was changed to a coated DPF for the last Mk2 Focus's, yours will have the Eolys type.

1 horsepower is 746 Watts, so 80,000/746 = 107 hp approx.

Straight over my head🤪

KW just sounds like a fan heater, which is related to a BEV!

I'll stick to BHP👍
