Rear Shock Absorber

Featured Replies

I am almost ashamed to admit to paying someone to change rear shockers on Wife's KA.

He was recommended and had apparently worked at Ford, but he managed to miss the bush off one of the Monroe's  I bought myself.

It is now knocking and the bush isn't listed as a separate part. Anyone any idea what I can use or where I can get one ?

Thanks

What I forgot to mention is it appears to be a metal tube/sleeve not a rubber bush.

These have eyelets top and bottom as far as I know.  They should each have a large rubber bush with a small metal sleeve inside it.  They are different top & bottom but I think both should have the sleeve attached to the rubber rather than being loose.  So I'm struggling to work out what's happened here?

There are generic shock bushes available on ebay.  Though you would have to check measurements carefully to confirm they'd fit.  By the time you've bought the bush, gone to the hassle of cutting out what's left of the old one and then made up a tool to pull the new bush into place, it'd probably be quicker and easier just to buy another shock.

If the metal sleeve is loose in the aftermarket shocks, something like this might work.  Or perhaps you could contact Monroe directly to ask them?
