Ka 2009 Diesel Flywheel - where to find?

Featured Replies

Hi

Got a 2009 KA Diesel with a dead clutch.  Managed to find a LUK clutch for £72+ but nowhere can I find the flywheel needed for it (and I'd rather replace than get skimmed).

Local Ford dealer tells me they've been discontinued and zero stock left,

Any ideas either genuine or aftermarket?

thanks

Is it in such poor condition that it needs replacing or skimming ?

The car is 15 years old so realistically probably only has another 5 or 6 years left. While it is good practice to fit a new flywheel, it's not essential unless the surface is in poor condition.

It will be exactly the same as a Fiat 500/Panda Diesel flywheel

true, but also unavailable on the few sites I've looked at.

Skimming is the answer then

Wont know for sure until we get it out, the fact that the clutch has failed though suggests the rivets will have eaten into the flywheel, so likely will need replacing.

No necessarily. A good skim should sort it

Rivets are usually pretty 'deep' nowadays.  Even with a heavily slipping clutch I'd be more concerned about hotspots forming than gouges in the flywheel.

Happy to be proved wrong when you remove it though!
