Diesel pouring out near egr valve

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've got a B-Max, manual transmission, 1.5 tdci engine.

I noticed a strong smell of diesel inside the car a few days ago.  Got someone to look at it and they thought it was the egr cooler leaking coolant.

I've since driven it to work and back and it's now pouring out diesel from the middle of the back of the engine near the egr cooler when the engine is up to temperature.

The injectors on the top look clean as a whistle. Top of the engine completely clean.

I've checked the fuel lines and they look clean too.

I'm not amazing with engines so would really appreciate any ideas/advice.

Suffice it to say, I won't be using it again until it's sorted!

Thanks in advance!

Do you have a larger still picture?  I'm struggling to see the detail in that small video.

There is a common part that leaks on these.  It's a small round metal part in the middle of the fuel pipework at the top.  Only available as part of the pipework and costs around £180 from a Ford dealer.

Good instincts and thanks for responding!  I've managed to find the leak (at the top of the engine at the back, not half-way up) and I think it's the part you've shown in your picture.  (See picture of mine below).  It seems to be leaking from the bit I'm holding in my hand( black plastic bit on right of your picture).

What is this part called?  Is ebay a good place to get it?

Yes I think that's the same part.

Part number is 1918296.  Though I would double check with any seller before buying.

If you want a new one Arnold Clark have an offer on through their eBay shop using a discount code.

I'm not so keen on buying a used one as they break so frequently, a used one may not have long left.  Though they are obviously much cheaper so that's your choice to make.
