Sun visor -mirror flap broken

Featured Replies

Just a quick recommendation to fix broken pin at end of sun visor mirror flap.

The flap that turns the lights on the mirror had a broken pin at one end, then it fell off.

I looked at where to buy new flap without much success, so I decided to repair it.

I bought a 500mm length of stainless 3mm dia. rod. Enough to do both flaps.

Drilled a 3mm hole through both ends of flap. Unbroken end pin was removed.

Cut the rod to 192mm. Removed burrs and passed rod through drilled holes of flap.

Now for the tricky part of refitting flap top sun visor, which involved carefully bending  the flap and rod to refit into visor.

Now it is restored to as new with no fear of the flap falling off again.

Probably applies to various Fords and other cars.
