Looking at the awful, current/voltage limiting halogen DRL

Featured Replies

We've just picked up the 2018 Edge Sport for my partner, It has the less than desirable dimmed halogen DRL. I've had a look over several posts and can't find anyone that has actually successfully integrated a good led system as a drl without changing the light cluster.

I may have a look into the lighting circuit if it winds me up enough.

I'm no stranger to Automotive electronics, load detection circuits and ECU repairs etc..

Love to hear of anyone who has delved into this and has some helpful info on the subject.

Cheers

Darren

Well I've been looking around, trying to filter out the chinese rubbish but also not going to the 'Headlight revolution' guys top notch leds

There's a generic led H15 bulb sold everywhere by various vendors, the price varies quite a bit. The true sellers give a more reasonable, but still exaggerate the lumen output.

Novsight are another distributor of this led. The actual seller has hair products and leds in their inventory

NOVSIGHT 2X H15 LED Headlight Bulb Kit Hi/Low Beam 50W 9000LM Super Bright White

These units are All aluminium and have some weight to them, they fit nicely and the dust cap pops back into place.

I also installed T10 led bulbs in the rear licence plate lenses, this completes the full led look at the back of the car, these are not the brightest in the T10 catergory, I hope the led is not being driven too hard and will last the distance

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354959634928

T10 CAR BULBS LED ERROR FREE CANBUS 2 SMD XENON WHITE W5W 501 SIDE LIGHT BULB

Both sets are installed , we have no errors or flickering.

I would advise a very small dab of silicone grease (plumbers grease) on the silicone gasket, this will make the installation so much easier.

Thanks for the reply, these are another type of generic led sold by various companies at various prices from £30-155

They are bright, infact too bright for thier own good, the leds get so hot that they discolour the paint on the aluminuim plate and burnout, there's a video somewhere on youtube, but there's another youtuber with a Ranger and he put them in his lights and loves them, unfortunately leds are a minefield of cheap nasty rubbish, genuine affordable quality and name branded oem quality break the bank prices,

Cheers
