Kuga 2.0 180 bhp Euro 6 Powershift problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I am hoping someone can help me. I have a Kuga, 15 plate, 76,000 on it, auto Powershift. I believe that Ford improved the transmission around the time my vehicle was manufactured but am not 100%. Could someone shed any light on this? I have posted a pic of the gearbox with the serial number on top.

Also, I have noticed a slight fluid leak where the transmission meets the engine. The car drives beautiful and there is no slipping or problem with auto shifting. Does the leak look serious and would It be worth my while getting it sorted with labour, parts and fluid costs given the poor history that Powershift has with longevity?

I would be very grateful for any advice. Thanks.

Just keep an eye on the level until the next transmission service (every 36,000 or 3 years) and have it done at the same time

Thanks. How do I measure how much is in the transmission and any idea as to where it is likely to be leaking from?

Not sure I'm afraid. Is there not a dipstick up top?

Looks like the sump gasket

It looks like a sealed unit, but I will have another look.

The serial number on the auto transmission is FV4R 7000 AB so I want to see if I can find out if that is the improved Powershift box before I decide whether to put any money into it.

Having said that, it is driving fine.

That's the part number

The "F" indicates further year introduction, original was "B" I believe

And the last "B" indicates an engineering up level

2015 should be the improved version and the fact that it hasn't completely **** itself yet confirms that🤪

Thanks. Yes, from what limited info I can find the 180 BHP Euro 6 engine appears to have the improved transmission, so I guess one less thing to worry about.

The leak doesn't seem to be much, so I hope it is ok driving it for a couple of weeks until I can get it done. 🤔

1.5 and both 2.0 TDCi use the same DCT450 gearbox

It'll be fine, the leak doesn't look major

Is that the improved Powershift or the worthless one?
