Haldex IV - Sucking the oil out through the fill/level plug

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any success sucking the oil out of the fill/level plug on a Haldex IV unit on a Kuga 1 4x4 Powershift
I cannot get the large harmonic balancer off to gain access to the Haldex pump and so I was wondering if its an option to suck the oil out through the fill plug and then replacing the filter without removing and cleaning the pump.

I've never tried, but personally I think you will only be delaying having to replace the Haldex pump in the next few months.

It's a fair point but from the videos that I have seen the pump filter doesnt seem to get too blocked (compared to the filter itself). I haven't got any warnings on Forscan and I thought this might be better than nothing if I cannot get the harmonic balancer off.

I am going to have another go at the balancer but was using this as a fall-back position.
