Identifying positive and negative car battery terminals

Featured Replies

I’ve done a search of the forum and couldn’t find an answer so starting a new discussion.

My car battery is dead and I have a jump starter battery kit.

I have a Ford Focus 2005.

Where are the positive and negative terminals?

The back one with the lead that goes to the body is the negative terminal and the other is the positive.

If you look at the plastic casing alongside the terminals there will be either a + or - too 😉

If you zoom in on the first picture you can see about 60% of the plus symbol, with the rest under that cable.

Cheers. I did look for them but couldn't see anything.

What's best to use? Just kitchen roll? Or do I need some sort of clearning solution?

boiling water and they'll come up like new...  BUT not sure how well the box its in drains away the crud - so a hot damp rag and don't burn your hands in the heat.... or from that filth as it tends to be acidic too....
