I suspect this only exists on a hybrid car, but has anyone ever used this, under what circumstances, and what was the effect??

I don't have many steep hills around me but I have tried it on medium hills and all it seems to do is light up the orange light on the dash. I've read the manual, so I know what Ford says it should do, but I don't notice/feel any effect at all when I press the button.

    I would imagine grade assist holds a ratio on the CVT for a while for climbing or engine braking

    You should only notice revs increasing with speed

    Thanks for the suggestion, but no, it doesn't do that.

    And with the button engaged, the engine can cut out to drive on electric only.
