Ford wet belt

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a Ford fiesta ecoboost that I'm currently replacing a wet belt and oil pump on. The timing belt was quite flaky and oil pump pick up was quite blocked.

I've had some people say that I should send the injectors away to get cleaned before I finish the job. Is this necessary?

This is very bad luck on a car that's not yet built 🤣 or is your profile wrong ?

No need to do anything with the injectors, the wet belt falling apart won't have caused them a problem.

Yeah my profile is wrong 😂 it's a 2015 Ford fiesta 1.0 ecoboost. I've had some people say if I don't get the injectors cleaned then it'll happen again

The EcoBoost 1.0 has many problems, but the injectors is not usually one of them. Problems with the wet belt will not cause an issue with the injector.

How much is the injector cleaning out of interest?  You can buy brand new injectors for these for around £60 each.  Not sure it's worth cleaning them at todays labour rates.

Weak injectors over-fuelling could contribute to the oil dilution & degradation, but I haven't seen anyone cleaning them as a matter of course so far.  They generally just get replaced if they break when removed.

Thanks for the replies. Another question I have, does anyone know the torque setting for the Allen key grub bolt for the turbo feed filter in behind the timing belt?

I couldn't find it in any OEM information. I decided on 30 Nm with a smear of thread lock when I did mine. Felt about right. It's only a M14 threaded blanking plug into the block so doesn't need to be super tight.

Hi guys, I'm just putting back together the car now. I've been taking photos or labelling everything but for some reason this bracket has been forgotten about. Is there anyone quite familiar with these 1.0 fiesta ecoboost engines that recognises this part and can tell me where it goes?

thanks 👍

It looks like part of the gear linkage mounting bracket but I don't have information on new models. Ford part G1BQ-8B597-CA

PLEASE amend the year of your car in the profile information.

I've updated it now. It's a 2015 model. It's definitely not a gear linkage bracket as I've just been doing the timing belt. I've already searched the number and don't really see any information as to where it goes. Just shows me the part
