Oil leak - but from where?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have noticed my ford Kuga 2.0 diesel 2016/2017 has an oil leak. The recesses on top of the bell housing are filled with oil, like little swimming pools.  Can anyone suggest where this.could be coming from? The leak is located below the fuel vapouriser exhausted point and collecting in the recesses of the bell housing.

Difficult to see but, definitely dirty engine oil?

Is the turbo any where near as 2.0 is (drain or supply)?

May need to clean off and inspect regularly to see where it's coming from?
Nothing to do with your other problems i.e. diesel???

High pressure fuel pump a common point for oil leaks.

Not to sure, I am wondering if this is having any knock in affect to my DPf issues?

Thanks you for sharing this, seems like abit of a pig of a job 🙈. Do you know if the hpfp is linked to regenerations on the MK2 2.0 Kuga?

Is it diesel or engine oil?
If engine oil "just" needs the joint re-sealing (pump needs refitting correctly without moving engine), if diesel, another level of issue?
Have "we" tested fuel rail pressures yet?

It is engine oil.  I haven't checked fuel pressures as never saw it as an item to check as the car is starting and running ok.  Do you know what type of pressures specs I should be seeing / hoping for?

So likely not related to the other problem?

Fuel rail pressures one of the critical parameters to keep an eye on but probably not for your other issue?

PCM sets a demanded pressure and fuel rail sensor registers the actual value.

Typical at idle, demanded 30000kPa and at 3000 RPM (NO LOAD) 113000 kPa
