2014 c max questions

Featured Replies

Hi all.  Recently purchased a 2014 c max tit x 1.6 tdci

A few questions please

So - I believe the car has adaptive forward lighting albeit I have never noticed the lights going round the corner - is it the HID projector that moves or is it the bulbs that positioned out to the left and right that come on  ?  Does the car need to be moving for the lights to activate?

Tyre pressure monitoring - I haven't had it in the past and don't particularly want it now.  Whenever I start the car the screen displays an error stating the pressures aren't stored - Is there anyway to switch of / disable this nonsense altogether ?

Do all tit x C Max have the blind spot monitoring ? - can't say I've noticed mines working as yet

Thanks

If you've got BLIS there 's a little picture of a car and a wi-fi symbol etched into the glass of each wing mirror (not that it uses wifi - it represents the radar waves, or infra red or whatever magic it uses to detect). Also in the set-up menu there's an option to turn it off. if you have neither, then  you don't have it.

In that case I don't have it, not overly bothered, one thing less to fail at the end of the day, eager to see if I can get TPMS switched off in the ECU...Cheers

.... and come your MOT you'll be eager to get it switched back on and working unless you want the car to fail.

Another reason for ***** features such as this never to have been fitted

Didn't even realise that this would be part of the mot, strange that it passed an mot before I purchased with no mention of it.  One of these systems which I have never had before thus I don't need one now.  Get the error every time I start the car "tyre pressures not stored".  I can save the current pressures but flags up again within 30 minutes of driving and then at each start.

Sorry I meant "tyre sensors not detected".  Just read a few things about the batteries in the sensors likely being dead/dying with age

Cheers

The MOT guidance is currently quite vague on this.  It suggests that cars from 2012 onwards should have the TPMS checked.  And it is a failure to have an 'obviously malfunctioning TPMS system'.  However, there's no mention of there not being a warning light on the start-up test.  So you should get away with it if the TPMS doesn't show up at all.

That's quite a simple one to fix. The individual batteries in each of the tyre pressure sensors generally last between 7 and 10 years. On a 2014 car I would expect that the batteries are now all dead unless the sensors have been previously been replaced.

A set of 4 new TPMS sensors can be bought from the likes of eBay/Amazon for about £65. You will need to take it to a tyre garage to get them changed and after that you should be good for another 7 to 10 years.
