Hi all, I'm new here but would be really grateful for some advice on this please.

I have a 2008 c-max that's has fallen victim to the classic bonnet release failure. 

I've bought a replacement part, listed as 25.5cm (the longer of the two versions I can find online) but it's still about 3cm short of the original (see photo). 

I haven't tried installing it as I probably need to return it, but I'd think once fitted in place the key wont reach to turn it (and will stop short of the clips that hold the front end in place).

I can't seem to find a longer version online. I also notice most of them are described as Focus parts; I assume they would use the same part for both cars but maybe I'm missing something.

Does anyone have any advice or experience with this? Either finding a better sized part, or making this version fit!?

My Focus is now on it's 5th bonnet cable! The original broke, and 3 x subsequent ones were cheap Chinese copies bought of Ebay, all lasted a matter of weeks. The current one is a genuine Ford one bought from a breaker - perfect fit, and working. Yes, if you buy new from Ford it's expensive, but see if you can get a used one. Compare it to a roadside breakdown cost without the ability to even open your bonnet...

The part you have is definitely the wrong part, no matter what the listing states.

C-Max version isn't the same as Focus version.
