Kuga Mk1 Front wheel bearing kit

Featured Replies

Is the front wheel bearing on a Kuga Mk1 a press fit or does it just easily push out once the 'C' clip is is removed ?

Also is it worth paying an extra £125.31 for a Ford supplied part ?

From Ford: £163.20   https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1443625920

From 'JP Group' £37.89    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403333750201

If it's like a lot of other Fords then you will need a Hydraulic Press and  different sized Remover/Installer Drifts(for want of a better word), Shells etc so that the new Bearing does not get damaged when it is installed.

I hate paying anyone to work on my cars but Front Wheel Bearing replacement is a thing that I would not attempt myself.

As for the make, I think Bearings generally are all much the same provided they are from one of the big suppliers.

Press to get bearing out after pressing the hub out first.

That's a pity 🙁

So a big hammer sounds like it's not up to the job 🤣

I tried that with a drum bearing once.  Ended up smashing a lump out of the drum.  The bearing didn't move.

Took the other one to my local garage to have pressed out properly.
