Oil leak

Featured Replies

Hi all so I’ve been trying to chase an oil leak on my mk1 kuga 2012 2.0d duratorq awd so I’ve replaced the fuel pump gasket ( euro5) and cam cover ( inlet manifold ) gasket , I’ve checked the oil return banjo on the block and it’s dry and also the connection on the turbo , were else could the oil be coming from ? As it’s dripping down the bell housing .
also how hard is it to remove the transfer case to dig deeper

Is the oil running down the outside of the bell housing, or is it coming out of a drain in the bottom of the gearbox?

If it's coming out of a drain in the bell housing, it's possibly coming from the rear crank seal.

It’s running down the bell housing , can’t really tell but it’s coming from above the boost hose between the transfer case and block were it bolts to the gearbox

That's a bummer. Wheeler Dealers, Car SOS etc etc all make it look like a cheap 10 minute job, which of course it isn't. The seal may only be a few quid, but the dismantling to get at it is pretty horrendous, especially if you're paying someones labour to do it.

Ed China always has them done in half an hour, and that includes washing the car afterwards 🤣
