1.6 tzja egr pipe removal

Featured Replies

I would like to get this pipe off. At the bottom where it inserts into the cooler, the bolts are obstructed by that fat coolant pipe and the hard plastic union piece. There may also be a metal fuel/pressure pipe of some sort in the way. Can i reach and undo the bottom union bolt with a ratchet spanner, or will i need to drain the coolant and remove the fat black pipe to get it off?

How do I remove those to do a leak off test.

Ive tried pushing, pulling, squeezing, even gripping with long nose pliers. Can't figure it out.

Saw one vid where a bloke just squeezes them near the bottom with some hook nose pliers and bingo but mine aint budging.

I am having the exact same issue with that bottom bolt, I need to remove that Silver pipe because the O ring at the top is letting exhaust gases past (confirmed with a smoke test)

Were you able to get the bottom bolt out, or did you have to remove the black pipe? I'm pretty sure it's a coolant pipe too which isn't ideal.

I am thinking of going through the middle of the pipes as you can see the bolt, and using a flexible extension and if needed wobbly bit on the end with a ratchet

You can do it from under the car with a ratchet spanner, otherwise, yes, you have to drain the coolant and remove that large hose. I dont even know if its a big enough gap to get that flexible bit in there.
