Windscreen washers acting up

Featured Replies

Hi All

I’ve found that my windscreen washer jets have stopped working. I’m getting a nice stream of fluid leaking out from the bonnet so I’m guessing something had become detached.
I can see how the sound damping material comes off but I’m unsure if this will give me access to the pipes? Also I’m unsure how to remove the washer jets from the bonnet. I’ve done the usual and looked on YouTube but can only find older models with bolt through fixings. My car is a late 2017.

I’ve also searched old threads but again nothing that answers my questions.

I would be grateful if anyone could offer some guidance?

many thanks Steve

Removing part of the bonnet sound deadening will give you access to the pipes, you only need to remove the bottom edge though.  Once that's out of the way you can usually push the jets out of the bonnet by gripping the hose and pushing that in the direction of the jets.  If that doesn't work there will be a small plastic tab somewhere that you can bend slightly using a small flatblade to release the jets.

Hi Tom

Thank you for your reply.

I shall try to give it a go over the weekend.

I'm hopeful that's something has just come adrift, but knowing my luck of late it will probably escalate.

Kind regards Steve

Yep that's how it is done.

In my experience, once they stop spaying correctly, they need replacing.

Had to replace both mine now in the last year.

Cheapest I could find was £50 each (should be the ones but check with seller first)

If you have a water friendly vacuum you could take off the small washer hoses where they attach to the water pump and suck any rubbish out of the line .

After playing around with my washers it sounds like you have the same issue I had possibly. Solved now in case it’s any help…

Back onto topic.

My flow was fine, it was just washing the drive not the windscreen.

All fixed

The feed pipe had come adrift at the nozzle. Bit surprised as the rubber bit on the end is quite rubust.

As per Tom's instruction, access is quite easy. I have a trim removal tool but it isn't needed or advised. You just need a flat blade "trusty Steak Knife" to wiggle the panel clips free. I did find removing most made access easier.

I had to disconnect the tubes, the electrics and wiggle the jet free.

The feed tube has a black split ring as per one of the photos in the thread. If you spin the ring a little it releases the tube.

I was then able to reattach the tube and push the assembly back through.

So confident that it would work I clipped everything back in place.

All good and the fluid hits the windscreen rather than the floor.

I did expect it would be harder and parts would be needed but in this case lady luck was on my side.

Cheers Tom
