System Off To Save Battery

Featured Replies

Good evening everyone,

I’m hoping someone might be able to assist with a couple of issues I’ve been experiencing with my 2020 Ford Kuga. Recently, I’ve been seeing a message on the Sync screen that says “System Off to Save Battery” while driving. At the same time, I get two yellow warning messages on the dashboard: “Check Adaptive Headlights” and “Temporarily Front Camera Inactive.” During this, all interior lighting switches off, and there’s a slight resistance in the steering (similar to driving on cobblestones) when turning the wheel, though the car remains drivable. This issue seems to resolve itself after a short time, especially after making a turn.

Additionally, I’ve noticed that when starting the car in colder weather, I have to leave the engine running for about 5 minutes before driving. The automatic transmission won’t let me go over 20mph and won’t reach 30-60mph until the engine warms up. Is this something that only happens with automatic transmissions?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Cheers,
Kieren

This is a very common problem with all modern Ford's but the Kuga and the Focus Mk4 seem the worst.

Your car battery state of charge (SOC) is very low and the battery either needs charged for at least 12 hours or it is needing replaced.

First try charging the battery with a Smart Charger (minimum of 12 hours) and see if things return to normal.

Thank You for your advice. I shall try that! I’ll get it booked in with my warranty provider for a replacement battery too. 👍🏽
