Would this Fiesta have a wet belt?

Featured Replies

Hi All.

I am looking at upgrading my Fiesta to a 2023 (23 reg) Fiesta 1.0T Ecoboost Titanium model (100ps). Does anyone know if this version has a wet belt please, as I'm struggling to find any info on this.

Thanks!

Timing chain but oil pump is wet belt with same 10 year interval, cost and precautions.

Loads of threads on here about it.

Thanks very much…that’s useful to know! Do the oil pump wet belts have the same awful reputation as the existing timing wet belts - or are they better?

Would definitely look to take all relevant precautions - full servicing, use of Ford oil etc.

That and switch off stop/start

And change the oil, minimum, every 12 months not 24 months as per Ford recommendations👍

As far as we know, the 100ps version never got the revised engine, so that would be wet timing belt. Plenty about it on other threads as already mentioned, and servicing advice above still applies.

Edit PS: I'm not sure about the "upgrade" aspect.

The 125ps MHEV might be a better bet engine wise, and the specifications have been reduced since 2018, especially in the last cars. (Plenty of threads on that, also!).

Do look carefully and check if any potential buy has everything you want.

I think we all thought that until someone posted a picture of a 100PS car with a chain engine?

I can't find the post though.

I'm sure, by 2023, they were all chain

It all got into a tangle as they produced a short lived 95ps version which we thought was wet belt until owners posted pics showing that it was the chain engine but non-MHEV. Then the 100ps made a return and it seems that was wet belt.

As ever, safest thing is to lift the bonnet and see what's in there!

Plenty of pics of both engines in various threads, but the quick identifier is the front mounted turbo with big shiny heat shield on the wet belt version.

Ah👍

Lol, I suffer from the same problem!

Just found this thread though, which includes a lot of discussion on the issue:

Thanks all for your super help! I’m now looking at a 72 plate 125 MHEV version instead, which has the chain.
