Wetbelt Manufacturer question

Featured Replies

Hi There,

I'm struggling to decide on which wet belt manufacturer to go with and I'm looking for some advise.

2015 ford fiesta 1.0 ecoboost 125ps, From what i've researched the ford genuine wet belts are manufactured by DAYCO, does this mean i can just buy the DAYCO branded one and its an identical belt. It's a pretty big price and availability difference.

Cheers

I can't say for wet belts (invention of the Devil?) but Dayco, Gates, Continental etc. and other big well known names are what I believe are called Tier 1 suppliers.

https://www.dayco.com/en/
As you say, manufacturers will put parts out to tender and buy from those Tier 1 firms who meet their quality standards?
For dry belt replacement, I wanted to supply my own quality parts (not Ford) but the garage said that they wanted to supply the parts as they had a preferred supplier (Gates) and the warranty would then remain with them (rather than a messy fight about the fitting or the part being faulty if there were a problem. Haven't had any issues)
