ST-Line X – Engine Management Light / Forscan

Featured Replies

Hi,

I’m experiencing some issues with my Fiesta ST-Line X. Over the past week or two, the engine management light has come on a couple of times, and I’ve had a loss of power on occasion. The car also seems to start up a bit lumpy sometimes.

Interestingly, if I turn the engine off and then back on, the issue seems to clear. I’ve scanned the car with my basic OBD reader, but no codes are stored or pending. However, I’m unsure if my reader is properly detecting all potential faults.

Since Forscan is a dedicated system for Ford vehicles, would it be able to read deeper into the system and pick up any hidden faults?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, use FORScan but you need to read the codes when the vehicle is in fault mode as they are obviously live/self clearing codes

Also, ensure the spark plugs have been changed, they should be 3yrs/36,000 and you are now 5yrs old

Yes.

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:

Hello, thank you for the information. Unfortunately, I don’t have a laptop, so I think I will purchase the Android Bluetooth version, as I only need it for diagnostics at the moment. Thanks, Ian.

Hello, I did change the plugs to NGK Iridiums, but is there a particular spark plug that they run better on? I know some cars don’t perform well with certain brands of plugs. Thanks, Ian.
