Fiesta S MK6 1.6 TDCI engine oil

Featured Replies

So talking about engine oil for the 1.6 TDCI normally SAE 5W-30 is used. I've check the user manual and SAE 5W-40 and 10W-40 can also be used. So I went around a lot of digging on the internet and found the best option, at least for me.

SAE 0W-40. From Mannol, Legend+Ester. Why the choice? Well, firstly the engine has done approx. 225k miles (363k km). And before that had used mostly 5W-30. So taking that in mind the engine is high milage ofc. The 40 grade oil would give better lubrication for the high milage engine and 0W would give good cold starts in the winter. Let's say superior in both summer and winters. Well now I've done about 300 miles on the new oil and boy does the engine sound a lot more alive.

What are your thoughts guys?

If your question is would I use it ? then the answer is no.

Personally I'd use only Castrol Magnatec, but then it is my car and I find it the best option for me.😉

Ive got mannol formula fr 5w-40 7707 in mine. Has the ford spec number on it.

I was also thinking about 5W-40, but where I live it doesn't get that hot, nor that cold, haha. It's just me thinking that 5W-40 is a bit thick for this engine, but on second thoughts it does have a high milage on it.

That must be a typo.  The correct Ford spec number is only available as 5w30.
