Bolts for egr valve

Featured Replies

After contacting ford theyve told me the 1448178 bolts for my egr valve are discontinued. They supplied me with part number 1489324 but told me that wasnt available either.

Its that m6 x 25mm stud/bolt I require as the head has sheered off one of mine

Can anyone locate one for me?

Ebay says its a mk5 mondeo cooler housing bolt but Ford say that wont fit.

Any help?

That bolt was also used for the waterpump on this engine, so if it's been superseded then there still be options available.

Have you got a picture of your exact bolt to compare?  Personally I'd try this one as it's seems to be the correct size.

Nope. Head sheered off one and I've left the other one in for now. Its an m6 x 25mm but has a t30 female flat head on it.

Is the shape of the head critical due to limited access space?

Possibly on the one thats closest to the external valve bit on the backside of the cooler, not for getting it in, but for using a socket on it. Could still access with a spanner. The one on the block side is fine tho. So.. No, in short. A normal hex head style bolt wouldn't be restricted, If those ones are simply bolt over torq head.

Plenty of choice on ebay, for instance:

Or try Toolstation, but they will probably come in boxes of 100!

Generic bolts may have a different thread pitch. Ive tried that in the past with other bolts and despute being the same size, its always the thread that'll get ya.

Do you have any local scrap yards where you can pull your own parts?

This engine was used in loads of cars so I'd be surprised if you couldn't find one at pretty much every yard nowadays.

Theres a few I could get to next week. Ive already asked reclamet and they dont keep bolts apparently. Was where i got my clock spring and trim parts for cruise control, and they did have a 1.6 tdci titanium in there but they aren't a pull your own kinda place.

Messaged them asking if I can have the bolts or the egr valve, or if they have another one in seperate bits, but might be an option. Same bolts on that one if you wana know exactly what im after.
