Fiesta ST engine / Tappet tick

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a 2017, Fiesta ST-1, 1.6 180BHP. Approx 61k on the clock.

In the last 3 months I’ve become aware of a ticking noise, particularly prominent at idle but is present through all rev ranges.

I’ve tried a couple of engine flushes to remove any gunk that could’ve built up in springs and buckets, and I’ve seen elsewhere that the fuel pump tappet is historically known to be an issue.
I’ve had the fuel tappet out and to the eye it looked fine, with the normal wear ring centrally.

Does anyone have any information on valve clearance?
I think my next step is rocket cover off and inspect the buckets and the clearance they have. Does anyone also know the best place to purchase replacement camshaft tappets or which ones are correct?

I’ve seen pumaspeed do replacement fuel tappets so that will be getting done at the same time as the clearance is checked
