‘Engine Service Now’ warning light

Featured Replies

2015 Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost 3dr

I’ve recently had the ‘Engine service now’ warning light pop up along with the loss of ‘hill start assist’. I’ve just had a new throttle pedal assembly and new throttle body replaced to try and fix the problem along with having the error codes cleared multiple times but the light is still continuously appearing and putting the car into limp home mode. I’m just wondering if anyone can help please with a possible solution to the problem or as to why both of these warning lights keep returning. My garage too are now questioning why this is happening and believe it might be due to a potential leakage of air at ‘this’ point on the picture provided.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

What were/are the DTC's that you have ?

Are the garage reading the trouble codes using a 'generic' code reader like Snap-on ?

Since this is a 2015 model have the wet belts just been changed recently ?

That looks like it's been cut to fit a boost gauge.  Is the gauge still fitted?

The Codes that seem to reappear and set the warning lights off are ‘Throttle pedal position (D)’ and ‘throttle pedal pedal position (D/E) Voltage’.

Yes , my garage are using a Zeus Snap-on diagnostic tool.

And the wet belt hasn’t been changed , mileage is currently sat at 49.5k miles.

To be honest I've absolutely no idea what those codes are.

The Snap-On diagnostic tool is known for not being able to read all of the Ford specific DTC's and can even give misleading fault descriptions. You would be much safer to use FORScan which is for Ford vehicles.

As regards the wet belts, low mileage vehicles seem to suffer more with premature failure than those with high mileage. However in your case if the timing belt does fail it will not be because it's premature, rather it will be because it's overdue.

I believe so , The previous owner had an aftermarket Turbo boost pipe fitted which has just been spotted. However , we’re unsure if that’s what’s causing the service light to pop up as the original vacuum blow off valve is currently just loose in the engine bay. Where the stock valve used to be connected , now has the aftermarket one.

Hmm, definitely something odd going on there.

Does it still have a boost gauge inside?  If not, where does the other end of the first pipe go?

We need the Ford specific codes from Forscan to determine what's causing the warning lights.
