Rear jet wash tubing location?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My rear jet wash stopped working. Figured a blockage as can hear the motor going. Managed to take the tubing apart at the point in the picture attached (just beside reservoir) and it seems there's a blockage between this point and the nozzle at the back, as water will squirt out at high pressure happily all day from here, so not a motor issue. I've tried running compressed air through the tubing but it hasn't shifted anything. I'm wondering if there's either a hole or a monster of a blockage somewhere along the tubing.

Does anyone have a diagram of where the tubing runs, or can explain? I'm thinking it'd be easier to just replace the tubing rather than mess about with a blockage in an unknown location? Any help appreciated!

Usually runs up the A pillar and then along the headliner.

Hi all, I found the issue with this, I'll post the details in case anyone has the same problem.

After trying compressed air, flushing with alcohol and hot water, I found out it indeed was a stubborn blockage. I followed the tubing all the way from the reservoir to the rear nozzle. In the roof lining above the rear driver side passenger (right hand drive), the tube is split and connected together with a non-return valve. This valve was bunged up to the max. I took it apart and soaked it in boiling water with some fairy liquid, and checked it worked ok. It's all working as it should now. But does make me wonder about keeping it clear in the future. The diameter of the valve must be 1mm at most, so very easy to block up. This is gonna be one of those things that has triggered a lifetime of paranoia. I've added a couple of pictures to show the location of the valve.

Hope this helps! Nothing more annoying that finding a forum post with the same problem you're having but OP doesn't post the solution.

Sorry I missed your original post, or I would have directed you to the non-return valve. It is common problem on many Ford models and very often people just remove the valve and replace it with a straight though connector. The down side of doing away with the valve is that when using the rear screen wash you sometimes have to wait 5 or 6 seconds before the water gets back through to the nozzle.
