Constant squeaking

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My fiesta (2013 style) has been squeaking a lot recently. From what I can hear, the sound doesn't seem to be coming from the front of the car, but from the bottom of the car (could be elsewhere to be honest).

What I can add is that the squeaking starts probably 5 mins into my drive and continues throughout, and it only stops when I use the brakes. Maybe that can help narrow it down? Has anybody had this before and if so, how did you get it to stop?

Try lubricating the anti-roll bushes.

Braking could just be confusing the situation because the weight of the car shifts and puts extra strain through the bushes at that point.

Thanks, will try this. A silicone spray is ok to use here?

Yes, that's fine.

Had the exact same issue with ours, worse in the winter.

I had previously replaced the rear axle bushes as they were hanging but the squeak remained.

Tried silicone spray but no luck.

Changed the anti-roll bar bushes and its like a new car again!

Also changed front wishbones and anti-roll bar links at the same time.

Our car is squeaking over ramps and braking, it is driving us nuts, over the past two years our car has become very rough and noisy to be in, like being in a 1980's car,  planning on renewing both front wishbones - link arms - anti-roll bar bushes - rear trailing arms - new rear springs and top bushes.

Can remember when it was a lovely comfortable car to be in.

Thanks, do you remember roughly how much all the changes cost you?
