Have I Fixed This Correctly?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Friend has a StreetKA (06 plate) that had a suspected oil leak and noisy tappets. Upon inspection found the below seemed to be the culprit:

The oil appeared to be leaking out of the hole you can see visible in the picture. This is attached to the front end of the drive shaft. I loosed the clamp on this and slid it down as far as it would go so it is tight with the rubber gromit (please see below pic:)

There was probably about an inch or two of movement in it. Can anyone just clarify that I've done this right by sliding it down as far as it will go, or should it be a bit higher up? Just want to double check before I let her drive it.

Many thanks,

Rik.

thats your gear selector, where the shaft slides into the gearbox there will bean oil seal (it will be this thats sepping, they do'nt usually leak a lot) the gromet is mearly keeping muck off the shaft, the clamp thats in the picture has to be at a set place otherwise it will affect the gear changeing.

Forgot to add that'll have nothing to do with noisy tappets, there easy enough to adjust though and fit a new rocker gasket.

Hi riknos

tappets are hydraulic self adjusting.

if they are noisy it means that you probably require engine flush & oil/filter change. which is a 5w/30 semi synthetic or

if moderate climate 5w/40 semi synthetic.
