Noise when accelerating, 2011, Mk7 Fiesta, Auto

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm reposting after posting in the wrong area.

I’m new here, currently have a 2011, Mk 7 Fiesta, 96,000 miles, auto.  It’s been a great little car

It’s had an unusual high pitched sound when accelerating to over 2500 rpm in the past 3 months or so.  Only lasts a few seconds.  I can smoothly accelerate when joining a motorway and not notice the sound, but this maybe engine noise blocking it out.  The sound doesn’t occur when idling.  Please see link to video

My local Ford garage has road tested and investigated but cannot locate an issue or hear the noise I've heard.

Aux drive belt and main timing  belt have been replaced in the past 18 months
Could it be an alternator bearing?

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thank you

Jesse

I can hear the noise on the video. It could be the alternator, but I'm thinking more likely the aux belt tensioner.

You could remove the aux belt and run the engine with it off for a few minutes to see if the noise has gone away.

Thank you for having  watch of the video and the tips.  I will take a look into this and hopefully solve the problem, or be able to get a bit further with it.  I’m glad in a way that it’s not just my ears 😎
