Mk7.5 Battery Query

Featured Replies

Hi,

Over the past few days my alarm has gone off randomly a couple of times, after locking the car. Also, I can’t remember the last time the auto start-stop actually functioned - which has made me wonder if the battery is on its way out? I had my MOT/Service 7 weeks ago and battery health results are below - I do think it is the original battery (11 years old!). Any advice?

Thank you!

To save the guess work as to 'what, wherefore and why' just use FORScan and read the information as to what caused the alarm to activate the last 3 times.

The battery health check looks fine, and is very unlikely the cause of your alarm issues.

That's good news !! 🎉

Do you have any tips for the members as to how you managed to get it not to work ? 🤣

Ooh interesting, I didn’t know you could use FORScan to find out what caused the alarm to activate. I only have a Mac so will have to wait to borrow my brother’s PC to check that out, but sounds like a good plan!!

As for start-stop, who knows😅

Shame on you 🤣

You could use one of the phone versions of FORScan, they do exactly the same as the windows version, only difference is the phone versions can't be used for programming.

if as you said battery 11years old, mine was8 years bought new one on amazon fitted now auto stop back to normal, my old one had good readings, but didn't want to get caught out,, see on you tube,  im 74, easy easy job to do save a lot of £££ hope that helps

Confirmed it was the battery - and that it was the original 11 year old Ford battery. So, it did quite well I suppose!! Auto start-stop is back in action now, and no more random alarm pings. Therefore, my advice for anyone wanting to permanently disable auto start-stop is to have an old battery😂
