Wetbelt

Featured Replies

I've had very very bad experiences with now two transit customs with the wetbelts going causing catastrophic damage. I've just sold my latest custom and looking to downsize to a ford courier 2015 1560cc

I was wondering if this runs on a dry belt or wet belt. I've gone to view it and the owner has no clue. Google comes up with mixed views. So thought I'd ask for some friendly advice.

Is there anything that I should be wary about prior to potentially owning one.

Thanks guys.

Hi,

Good news is none of the 1.5/1.6 diesels ever had a wetbelt.

In this case it is the 8 valve 1.6 TDCI engine.  So just one dry belt.  Nothing else.

It is overdue a change now though, should have been done at 10 years.

Injectors are a weak point on this engine.  Otherwise they're generally reliable.

Thank you for your fast response.

How much are we typically talking to have one changed? Is there anything else that in conjunction would need changing too?

Like as for the wet belts they advise all three, turbo, belt, oil pump.

I'm used to paying over a £1000 each time ANYTHING went wrong🤣

Thanks again!

Well it should be under £1000 at least!

Prices vary across the country but I'd expect to pay £500-£750 for the full job at a decent garage on this engine.

That includes the waterpump and a new auxiliary belt as well.

It's probably also due a fuel filter change which will cost around £50 at a garage.  (Nothing to do with the cambelt, but often missed from routine servicing).
