Loose Cable?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, whilst I was inspecting the underside of my Ranger I noticed a loose cable hanging above my near side rear, Leaf spring. Just wondering if anybody knew what this cable is for? (See blue arrow) Will it be safe to cut it back or tie it to the chassis so that it's not dragging on the Leaf spring? I havent noticed any electrical issues, so I'm not sure what it's related too. I did have an aftermarket tow bar installed and perhaps they cut this when they wired the new power socket?

(It could also be contributing to the noise I've been trying to resolve in my other thread.. when the wind hits it 🤷‍♂️)

Thanks in advance for your help!

That's a plastic vent hose.  Not a cable.

Cheers, should I just cable tie it to the chassis?

Isn't the vent hose the thicker pipe in front? I'm referring to the thinner cable behind it in the OP that's hanging with the end sitting on the Leaf spring.

No.

The ribbed plastic in front is the wiring loom.

So it should just be left dangling?

Shouldn't it be secured out of reach of water or debris to prevent contamination/blockage?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's exactly as it was designed to be.
