How do I access my service records online?

Featured Replies

When I bought my Ecosport from a Ford dealer (UK), the salesman said no service book or any other documents anymore as everything was ‘online’. He implied that the ‘Ford Pass’ app was all I needed to access this information. However, I have downloaded the app and put in my ViN but it has never given me any information - at always wants to ‘connect’ to my car but this has never worked. Surely there must be some other way of looking at my service record?

Any ideas please?

The Ford DSR (Digital Service Record) was introduced in 2014 and initially was used alongside the service record (booklet) on paper. From approximately 2016 the DSR system became mandatory for all Ford dealerships and a few Months later the paper service record was discontinued.

The DSR information can be viewed based on the VIN number that is registered to your Ford account. When logged in the DSR can either be found on the Ford website or in the Fordpass app. If no DSR information is available it simply means that no services are registered inside the DSR system. The lack of DSR registered service records is usually caused by the garage that performed the services not being authorized or being bothered to use the DSR system.

If no DSR information is available the only way to proof that the vehicle has a full service history is by the invoices of all performed services. Without knowing exactly who performed the services for the previous owner it is however extremely hard to obtain the proof that the vehicle is serviced according to the service requirements.

Apart from Ford dealerships independent garages and specialists can also get authorization to access the DSR system. Unfortunately very seem to be bothered to use the DSR system.

Was he called Keir Starmer ? Your salesman lied !!! 🙁

I have a 2019 Focus which I've owned since it was only a few months old. It has been serviced 3 times, twice at Ford main dealerships (Arnold Clark, and Bristol Street) and once by an independent garage. None of the services are recorded on the Ford digital service record.

Fortunately for me and because I already guessed the system would be a complete disaster, I have a service book for my car. Each time it has been serviced I've insisted that the book be stamped and the details filled in by the service desk. I've fastened each of the invoices inside the book, just for my convenience.

This is very much a Ford problem.  I have a DSR printout showing every main dealer service from the first PDI on my 2012 Golf.  VW dealerships are more than happy to send these out as PDF.

But I had a 2012 Focus with a mileage discrepancy on the MOT history, and no early service stamps because apparently the wrong mileage in the book as well, but no Ford dealer could/would provide any DSR for it!

Incidentally, the brand new Focus I bought and sold a few years ago also now has a mileage discrepancy on MOT history.  And I can see that it has no previous DSR through the Ford service site either.  So the FordPass app won't show anything for that one.

Thanks for your replies guys but that has made me feel so sad! on my last motor (Honda), I meticulously kept my service history, MOT certs, repair bills for 20 years. I feel quite lost now as it only really came to notice when I recently got an email from the DVLA reminding me my 1st MOT was due and I had no idea of the actual date before that. I have opened a Ford account but it only told me my Sync3 was due an update, no service info etc, nor anything about the warrantees I took out when I bought the car.

How do you ever sell a car now if you can’t prove the service history?

Oh that's easy. The government don't want you to sell a petrol or diesel car, they want you to scrap it 🤣

Private selling has been ruined now anyway.  A decade ago there was a mutual agreement with used cars that the buyer buys it knowing there could be a few problems in future, and that they were saving money compared to a dealer.  Now used buyers seem to want dealer protection at private prices...and expect any future repairs to be covered by the seller.  I daren't sell my old car for fear of repercussions if the cambelt failed or anything.  It'll probably end up scrapped eventually.

Most people now trade in their old cars against newer ones, or sell to WBAC/Motorway, so it's the dealers problem if anything does go wrong with them in future.  Dealers can't pass on any paperwork due to GDPR.

You can access it on the owners part of the Ford website with just the bin.

ill warn you now, its useless. Mine has annual services at Ford and of the 8 it’s had, only 4 show on the system. It’s old enough I also have a book lucky enough.
