Traction warning light/Transmission malfunction

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a 2016 C-max with automatic transmission.  The traction warning light started appearing a few months ago combined with a shuddering and or out of gear feeling.   The warning light would go off again and it would drive normal.  Our mechanic seemed to think it was an abs sensor or control unit issue.  He’d clear the fault and it would drive fine for a few weeks and problem would return.  We eventually took it to a ford garage who said the abs control unit was not the original one that came in the car and was not coded to the car.  They recoded it and gave it an available update.  They did say when they took the car there’d be no guarantee this would sort the issue.  It was brought to our attention that the gear box should be serviced periodically with an auto transmission (news to us), so as we had not gotten it done during our ownership we said we would get it done.  They also installed an update for the gearbox.  All up - gear box service/diagnostic & recoding etc =€800.  1 day later car had a meltdown.  Traction light again, engine service light, hill start assist unavailable and warning for transmission malfunction.  Car felt like it went into limp mode.  Started again fine after a few minutes and drove ok back to the mechanic.  They said every fault under the sun was coming up in the diagnostic.  They suggested changing the fuel filter.  Which we agreed to.  They’ve done that, cleared the faults and are saying it’s driving fine.  We are picking it up tomorrow and suspect it’s only a matter of time before car gets discombobulated again.  Has anyone experienced this before.  Is there any hope for this car getting sorted??

The 'State Of Charge' (SOC) of the car battery is very low !!

Replace the vehicle battery with a new one (fully charge for 12 hours before fitting) then reset the BMS and all should be well with the world after all the DTC's have been cleared using FORScan.
