Coolant Overheating

Featured Replies

I got my fiesta 2 years ago and found out if the car is in low gear or idling the coolant will eventually overheat and ends up ejecting coolant out the reservoir.

Spoke to a garage about it and was told it's a known issue and there wasn't much they could do about it.

This week it's been overheating repeatedly and I've lost 3 tanks of coolant, managed to take a look and eliminated some problems.

I jacked the car up and checked the bottom of the radiator fan and there was no control module, but there ar also no pins in the R7 slot so I am unsure if I've got a system A or B.

Some notes I took while working:

Ford Fiesta Zetec 80 2014 1.25

Issues:
Radiator fan not running (coolant at 92°C)

Checked:
Relay and fuses - no issues
Wiring from fusebox to radiator fan - no issues

Notes:
No R7 relay and no fan control module on radiator fan

Fairly new to working on my car myself, this is the biggest problem I've worked on so any advice would be great.

Disconnect the fan temperature sensor on the engine. The fan should run as it will default to on when the sensor fails.

If the fan doesn't run then suspect a faulty fan.
