2019 petrol CMax. Bought from dealership December 2024. February 2025 engine management light came on and dealership carried out diagnostic

‘The O2 sensor is at fault , however there is oil in the wiring loom so this will need replacing,.

and state that this is normal wear and tear and therefore not covered under warrant. I’m puzzled as surely thus is not  wear and tear.

The O2 sensor is a consumable part.  But the wiring loom is not.  

I would expect to pay for a faulty sensor, but warranty should cover the wiring loom depending the type of warranty that was provided.  (Well out of manufacturers original warranty now.)

The source of the Oil getting into the Wiring Loom needs to be fixed as well. Faulty Variable Camshaft Solenoid's are the normal source and replacing the Loom is an expensive job.
