Mk7 boot spare wheel water but no leak?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I had a leak in my fiesta a few months ago from the top right rear quater (classic leak point) which I've sealed up.

All good for a while but

A few days ago I found a little dampness under my spare wheel. However there is no evidence of water running down into the wheel well. It was raining yesterday and I put down loads of blue paper towel everywhere in the back so try and highlight any entry points. It's all still bone dry.

I can't really figure out what's going on.

My only guess is perhaps condensation from the contrast of coldness of the spare wheel and the metal of the wheel well collecting from residual moisture in the air inside the car.

For now I've got the boot lining and parcel shelf out to increase air flow and left the paper towel under the spare and all in the back to see what happens.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

I would expect that if it is just damp then it will just be condensation from back when you had a real leak. It takes a very long time to fully get all the dampness out.
