Hi folks

the current bulbs are cap less 501, has anyone upgraded to led lights from eBay etc? If you have can you recommend a decent replacement?

Yes and No.

Yes I did replace the 501 lamps with LED (from eBay) a total of 3 times. They all lasted less than 4 months. I then bought 2 new original filament lamps and they've been working now for over a year.

And the LEDs are far too bright for the registration plate.

Thanks, yes led can be quite bright but wanted brighter than standard as the 501 give a yellow light as opposed to white which I want.. I replaced the 501 bulbs with brand new ones maybe that will help a little.

One of the first 'upgrades' I did was replace the number plate lights with LED ones. Surprisingly, they have now been installed over 5 years and still work perfectly...
