Bonnet open warning, How does it know???

Featured Replies

2007 3 door zetec fieasta obv

Had problems with a GEM because of broken wire in the door loom where it passed from door to A pillar.

I fixed the loom, reinsulated all the wires and bought a GEM from ebay from a seller that said he would programme the GEM to the car, I told him the original GEM code and listed all car details, it arrived and indicators and hazzards now work, but the dash comes up bonnet open with a yellow warning light that turns red (led bottom right of tacho) if you move off. Now i cant find anyway that the car would know the bonnet was open, no microswitches on the latch at all, just a cable from the interior pull, and the secondry release that pops out

so does my new GEM think there is a microswitch? and as it has no signal is reporting bonnet open?

Can i programme this out with "Forscan" or is it return GEM for correct one?

Or is there a microswitch or semsor I havent found??

Many thanks for the help and advice

Nick

The switch is on the latch itself.  Not all of the Fiestas got this feature.

Should be possible to switch it off with Forscan.  Though it may not be as simple as 'bonnet switch off'.  It may have the wrong type of security/alarm system selected at the moment.

there was no switch in the latch, I put the old GEM back in, and compared config files to the new one, as you say, the car has no alarm. new GEM config eddited, all good

Thank you
