Wiper switch(stalk)

Featured Replies

The above needs replacing on my 66 reg Fiesta. Where’s the best place to get a replacement without paying a Ford dealers ludicrous mark-up?

Out of interest, is the wiper stalk on the same side as on a LHD car, ie are they interchangeable?

Thanks for any advice.

Most of us get 'used' parts from somewhere like Ebay, especially on a car your age...

Kind of !!

Almost all Fords worldwide have the inductor stalk on the left side of the steering column regardless as to whether the car is RHD or LHD. So by default this means the wiper stalk is on the right side of the column.

The exception to this is Australia (and possibly New Zealand) where the law stipulates that the indicator stalk has to be on the right hand side of the steering column, and therefore the wipers are on the left.

Thanks for the responses chaps.

Stephen, I tend to agree, but with such parts as switches, especially ones like this with so many functions/settings, it will be well-worn already and maybe close to failing (or already has failed) the way that the old one has, regarding the screen wash function.

Unofix, are you 100% sure? On the website of a European supplier, the part I want is described as being suitable for a LHD car. I suppose the “acid test” is whether the switch has different part numbers for LHD and RHD vehicles. Do you happen to know?

I'm actually a 110% sure that the wiper stalk is on the right side of the steering column on both RHD and LHD models.

Is it the exact same switch? I couldn't say for sure but I would expect it to be.

Thanks Unofix. I was only unsettled that it was specified as suitable for an LHD car on a European website.

Just be aware that 2007 is a crossover year for the Focus and so there are 2 possible different models for that year.

If you tell me the VIN number I can tell you the Ford finis number of the part.

I think the OP is talking about his Fiesta? Either he's got 2 cars or profile is out of date.

Don't you just hate it when that happens ? 🙁

OK, so here we go, Fiesta 2016 wiper switch, only two versions available. One for cars with a rear wiper, and one for cars without a rear wiper. Both LHD and RHD cars are listed as using the same part(s).

I’m sorry for any confusion gentlemen. I do in fact own both cars and in my defence, I did post this topic in the “Ford Fiesta Club” section of the forum. Nevertheless, I’ll rectify my omission asap. 🙂

Thank you for the additional info, Unofix. I actually had a lightbulb moment and thought I’d check the owners handbook, as it shows the layout of the controls for LHD and RHD cars, but I couldn’t find the wretched thing! Anyway, your screenshot is good enough for me, so thank you. 👍🏻
