the belts don't fit

Featured Replies

hello,i would like to change the belt to my cmax 2009 125ps 1.8L. since two days i try to do it using two belts but in vain. the old belt is 6PK1213 made in usa and the new two belts are 6pK1213 made in usa and 6PK1240 continental made in germany but these new belts don't want to fit, they seem short,l used the idler/tensioner many times to right side unfortunately without success. maybe i must to buy another belt more long? any help please

Looking a the photo on my phone

The original look's like 6PK1540

Can you get the old belt back on now?

Have you measured the new belts directly against the old one?

Those stretchy belts are one of worst ideas car manufacturers had. I hate them.

You will need quite a bit of force ( using a snug fitting bar in the tensioner hole ) to force the belt on.

i hate them too also this kind of tensioner

Have you tried putting the new belt in a bowl of very hot water for ten minutes to help it soften ?

As above then, it's just tight because it's a stretch type.

I really appreciate your responses.
Unfortunately, it's raining here today. I hope it stops and I'll try putting it in hot water.
I'll let you know how it goes.
thankyou so much 🙏
