Front washer jet blockage

Featured Replies

I posted on this subject a few months ago, then had new jets fitted in August. The problem is that the new jets are now showing signs of blocking up. Of course the three month warranty on the new jets has run out!

Has anyone got any suggestions/recommendations on what screen wash additive to use to prevent future blockages?

The washer bottle needs completely emptying and cleaning (Steradent denture tablets are sometimes recommended). Then refill it with any good quality screen wash additive in a colour and flavour of your choice. When that is done stick with the same additive forever, don't mix different varieties and don't use water without additive even in the summer.

I like the smell of the Halfords Citrus Scented screen wash but its just personal taste (don't taste it).

Stick a hose in the bottle and flush it out.

Stick a whole pack of steradent tablets, get the cheap ones, in the full bottle and leave over night.

Run the whole bottle through the front and rear washers in the morning to clean the pipes and the jets too.

Once empty, fill with 500 ml of clean water and flush that through the front and rear too.

Top up with fluid.

Don't use washing up liquid and always use screenwash

Thanks Dave T70, I'll try that, when it stops snowing!
